JEWELRY CARE AND CLEANING TIPS:

THIS IS IMPORTANT: Sterling Silver 925 can get blackened (tarnish) and it's a normal process. Also it's normal that Gold Vermeil and  Rhodium plated pieces slowly fade over time. Sometimes your skin PH can accelerate the discoloration process.

Caring for and wearing your jewelry

  • Yes, you can take a shower with your jewelry, you read that right! However, you must remove them to get into the sea or the pool. Salt and chlorine deteriorate the luster of gold and silver.
  • Avoid spraying perfume or applying creams that can get in direct contact with your jewelry as it will quick cause blackening or discoloration.
  • Keep your jewelry away from extreme temperatures, humidity or sunlight.
  • Avoid wearing your jewelry when using bleach, cleaning products and other chemicals.

How to clean Silver or brass jewelry?

  • First, be sure your jewels are NOT GOLD VERMEIL.
  • A Silver cleaner can be used to clean Sterling Silver pieces but not Gold Vermeil or rhodium plated.
  • Use a micro-fiber cloth. Rub the piece in one direction rather than circular motions.
  • Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean metal as they can cause scratching.

  • Do not use metal cleaner or any other cleaning substance on plated jewelry.

Jewelry storage is important as well…

  • Store them in an airtight bag (like the one we sent with your purchase). Air humidity is a harmful agent for Gold Vermeil and silver jewelry, it causes tarnishing really fast. Always do this, even if you think you are not in a humid place. Store them separately to avoid scratches.

Gemstones care

  • Since many natural gemstones can be quite delicate, hot water, long time exposed to sun and heat, harsh chemicals and cleaners should be avoided at all times.
  • Very porous stones such as Opal, Moonstone, Howlite and Emerald should be cleaned using an untreated, dry, soft cloth only.
  • All of our gemstones are natural and therefore can be vulnerable to chipping after a hard shock. Settings may also become loose over-time.

Warranty

All Ana Buendia pieces have a 1-year warranty in case of breakage or oxidation due to production defects. If you have followed these recommendations, your jewelry will last for many years.

ANA BUENDIA reserves the right to evaluate the products and determine if the damage is the result of faulty production or normal wear and tear from use of the product. Discoloration of Gold Vermeil or other deterioration of materials that occurs with use will not be considered defective.
